Free occupational therapy services for displaced persons.
Bridging Occupational Gaps with Refugees & Asylum Seekers
Occupational therapy has recently expanded its presence in the field of human displacement. In 2018, the “Bridging Occupational Gaps with Refugees & Asylum Seekers” was created, with the aim to organize occupational therapy assessments and interventions and to examine the role of occupational therapy in emerging contexts.
Services
The program offers free of charge occupational therapy assessment and intervention services to adults, adolescents and children who are recognized refugees, refugees with subsidiary protection or asylum seekers.
Occupational therapy program
by the European University Cyprus
The program was initially organized by the European University Cyprus in collaboration with UNHCR Cyprus. We are now in collaboration with various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Our students, overseen by academic and clinical occupational therapists, offer their services in the community, at a refugee reception center, at shelters for unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors and at semi-independents houses in Nicosia and Larnaca.
